Mama and Papa Chandler came to visit Sunday afternoon. Papa was looking forward to taking a nap with Connor. As you can see, he got his wish! I don't know if Mama was dying to feed Connor, but she seemed to enjoy it. My favorite picture in this post is the one of Connor and Reagan holding hands. I think that will have to make its way to one of the walls in the house.
Sunday naptime with Papa.
Feeding time with Mama. The great thing about grandparents visiting is mom and dad get a break!
Reagan is a great helper. So is the Boppy, which lets Reagan hold Connor much easier (thank you Tracy!).

Reading Counts
I don't have any pictures to post right now, but I do want to brag about Reagan for a moment. As you know, she started 1st grade this year. Her school participates in a program called 'Reading Counts', and it's for grades 1 and up. The kids read books (which have reading lvls assigned to them) and then take a 10 question quiz. If they get at least 7 questions correct, they get 1 point (or more if the reading lvl is higher).
Well, there are 17 children in Reagan's class. Her class has a total of 51 points that have been earned from the quizzes. Of those 51 points, 15 of them belong to Reagan! The next person behind Reagan only has 8 points. So, needless to say, Damian and I are very proud of her. She truly loves reading, and her comprehension is coming right along too.

Since this is not just Connor's site....
It was brought to my attention that even though the title of the blog is, 'The McCrea Family', so far there is only news about Connor. Well, that's because he is the newest thing to happen to our family! But in the spirit of fairness, I'm adding a few pictures of Reagan and Sean. I do plan to update the blog with stories and fun stuff about them as well.
Reagan started 1st grade at Christ Community Lutheran School this year. This picture was taken on her first day of school.
Sean had to have his picture taken too, of course.
Reagan with 2 of her good friends, Emily and Olivia.
This was actually taken on Father's Day. Dad and Pappa came down for lunch.
Some more Father's Day fun.

Labor Day
Connor had his first visit to Mama and Papa Chandler's house.
Nice face, dad!
Uncle Philip gets some baby holding practice.
Fortunately mom was right there, just in case.
This is one of my favorite pictures from the day.
Next time we're in Fort Myers I'll have to get some pictures of Aunt Savannah with Connor. Unfortunately the only time she held him on this day he was crying because he was hungry. Pappa was also over and he really enjoyed seeing Connor, and of course Reagan and Sean.

First Bath
What the heck is my mom doing to me?
I swear I didn't sign up for this!
Connor pretty much screamed through this entire experience. I think the shower head scared him a little as well.
Is it over yet?
Strangely enough, as soon as he had his clothes on, he was very calm and content. And by the time he had his next bath, there was no crying at all until the shower head was turned on!
Week 1
My daddy takes good pictures of me.
Sleeping, what I currently do best!
There's no telling what made Connor make this face of surprise! (maybe his daddy?)
The swaddler worked wonders the first couple of times I used it. The first time was pretty funny. Connor was crying and crying so I set him on his changing table and started wrapping the swaddler around him. By the time I got the last piece of velcro attached, he was out like a light. It was truly amazing.

In the Hospital
A baby is born!
Most of these pictures are already in my Kodak gallery, but to be consistent I'm posting them here as well.
Dr. Thompson holds the newest addition to the McCrea family. Unfortunately we missed the shot of Steve pouting his lip to match Connor's. It was pretty funny.
Reagan and Sean were very interested in everything the nurse was doing. They weren't in the room for the actual delivery, but they entered very soon after. Both of them think their new brother is pretty awesome.
Ok, so Connor looks precious even under the bili light! He had a little jaundice and actually ended up spending an extra night in the hospital. But he's all better now!

I've had several requests for more pictures, but for some reason blogger is giving me trouble today. In the meantime, I will share a recipe for Alfredo sauce that I made the other night. It turned out quite tasty, if I do say so myself!
Alfredo Sauce - 2 servings
Make sure to use fresh grated cheese. Don't use the Kraft type in the green bottles, it won't melt very well.
Hopefully I'll figure out what the heck is going on with the pictures and have some more up soon. Until then, go make some Alfredo!
Alfredo Sauce - 2 servings
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 8 fluid ounces heavy whipping cream
- salt to taste
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg (I didn't have any and it was great without it)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Romano cheese
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

The Nursery
Here are a couple of pictures of Connor's nursery. Once we decided on a Safari theme, it took awhile to figure out which bedding we liked best. I think this set works well.
We ended up using the same crib that we used for Reagan and Sean. A friend was kind enough to give us their old one, but I managed to break a vital piece as I was putting it together!
My mom came down one Sunday and helped me finish, which is the only reason this valance actually made it up!
